The upcoming film adaptation of Tony-winning musical, The Nines is one that we've been watching closely for sometime now.
The cast already includes Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, and Sophia Loren but now 2 more A-listers are supposedly in final talks to appear in the film. Nicole Kidman and Dame Judy Dench are no strangers to musicals (Kidman having starred in Moulin Rouge and Dench in multiple stage musicals) and would make a really nice addition to the cast.
The show centers on Bardem who plays a film director and the many women in his life. Can't wait to see how this one turns out especially with Rob Marshall (Chicago, Memoirs of a Geisha) at the helm.

David O. Russell is like a train wreck - his process is a total mess, but he's kinda brilliant so that you can't help but be interested. The tales of his difficulty on the set are legendary. The fact remains however that he makes really interesting movies that tend to be pretty great. Three Kings was way outta left field good and I actually dug I Heart Huckabees even though most people were really turned off.
His next project is a film called Nailed which has an interesting premise and a great cast including Jessica Biel and Jake Gyllenhaal. Today James Marsden, Catherine Keener, and Tracy Morgan were announced as additional cast.
According to AICN, "Marsden plays boyfriend to Biel's character, a waitress who gets a nail shot into her head causing erratic behavior. Biel decides to take up a fight for health care and travels to Washington to push for change. While there, she falls for Gyllenhaal's character, a spineless Congressman. Catherine Keener plays a selfish Congresswoman and Tracy Morgan is looking to play an injured compatriot to Biel's character."
Who can say no to that?

I don't really know how I feel about the Tin Tin movies just yet. All I know about the comics is what I've read about on the internet and I'm guessing that they lose a little some of what makes them so endearing to people around the world when you're reading a plot summary on Wikipedia. Because of this, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt (and also because Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson are attached).
Just to recap, the comic revolves around a reporter named Tin Tin and his sidekick, a cute little terrier, who run around and get themselves into all kinds of trouble while trying to solve various problems and get the story. The comic also prominently features many recurring characters in Tin Tin's many adventures. Currently the plan is for a trilogy of films.
This movie just keeps getting better with every story we read. By the time this film hits theaters hopefully it'll be able to live up to our really high hopes.
First of all, there's the premise which is awesome. It's basically about a guy who lives in a world where lying doesn't exist...until he invents it. Then I'm sure hilarity will ensue.
Secondly, the movie was written by and will star Ricky Gervais who must be one of the funniest men on the planet. His brand of humor sends me rolling in the aisles. If you're not that familiar with him check out his podcast and head on over to his blog about his experience with making this film at www.rickygervais.com/thissideofthetruth.php.
And now there's the news that Tina Fey and Christopher Guest are joining the cast. This makes for a pretty amazing movie (I hope) considering that the cast already includes Gervais, Jonah Hill, Jeffrey Tambor, Louis CK, Rob Lowe, and Jennifer Garner. This movie has so much potential for awesomeness that it almost blows my mind!

No, we don't mean literally. It seems that Sarah Michelle Gellar is set to take on the starring role in the indie drama, Veronika Decides to Die. She would be replacing Kate Bosworth who recently announced her departure from this film.
The film follows the title character Veronika who, being severely depressed, attempts suicide. The attempt fails however it has caused irreparable damage to her heart. It's only after learning this news that she truly begins to appreciate life.
Sounds kinda cliche but that isn't always bad. Gellar was great as Buffy (and developed quite the following in the role), but it never really seemed to test her abilities as an actress and she hasn't done much since then to show that she can handle such a meaty role. Maybe she'll blow us all away.

This is pretty interesting news. Pierre Pierre was a pretty hot commodity last year as far as movie scripts go and sparked a bidding war before being purchased for a million bucks. It was picked up by Fox Atomic (which may or may not be bad news depending on how you view their track record) and now there are two big names attached.
Jason Reitman, hot off of his last film Juno is attached to direct and Jim Carrey is set to play the lead. According to Variety, the "politically incorrect story centers on a self-indulgent French nihilist who transports a stolen painting from Paris to London."

The Oscar-nominated Juno star has been forced to drop the film due to a scheduling conflict.
"We were racing to start production so that we could accommodate Ellen's schedule," the studios said in a statement. "But like so many other productions trying to start before the potential [Screen Actors Guild] strike date, this one needed more time, and we had to push back the start of production."
