Ugh...35 dollar movies?

Just a quick word on this since I've been reading a lot about it. Evidently, Village Roadshow Media is going to be bringing a disgustingly pretentious theater to the Chicago area and maybe to a city near you thereafter.

Village Roadshow Gold Class Cinemas (as they'll be known) will be the ultimate high end movie going experience. The theaters will be charging an amazingly ridiculous $35 a ticket for the opportunity to see a movie in leather reclining chairs in a ritzy atmosphere. The theaters will also have a full bar and menu with waiters, a concierge service, and of course, valet parking.

This just strikes me as too much. I mean, I'm sure there are people who are gonna be willing to pay this much to see a movie but I'm not sure I wanna know any of em.

The 2008 Oscars turned out the worst ratings for the ceremony's telecast, ever. The preliminary numbers are even down--way down--from the previous all-time record low in 2003. Clearly, Oscar's got a problem.
