The 2008 Oscars turned out the worst ratings for the ceremony's telecast, ever. The preliminary numbers are even down--way down--from the previous all-time record low in 2003. Clearly, Oscar's got a problem.
OK, I know that most people don't have the patience to watch the entire Oscars ceremony.  I personally had to watch the whole damn thing because I'm a bit neurotic about it, but if you didn't stay up for the whole thing, check out the video below for the rundown.  Thanks to Slashfilm for pointing it out and to Mahalo Daily for compiling/editing it.

For $15.99, you too can own your own piece of movie history. Uxcell.com is selling replicas of the hamburger phone from the Oscar-winning film Juno. Apparently, demand is huge. "While we can't promise this Hamburger Phone (Cheeseburger Phone) will make you as sharp-tongued and clever as Juno, it will definitely make your cubicle as quirky as her bedroom," says Uxcell.

"The low ratings bar for the Oscars was set in 2003, when the awards show -- held amid the Iraq war -- attracted 33 million viewers, representing 37 percent of the people watching TV. If the preliminary numbers for Sunday night's broadcast hold steady, the 2008 awards show will be considered the lowest-rated telecast of the decade. Still, ABC easily won the night in the ratings," says the New York Times.
Live results from the Oscars, video and trivia -- all right here.

Thanks Cinematical for drawing our attention to this hilarious video.  In it, MTV movie correspondent Josh Horowitz is inserted into the Academy Award Best Picture nominated films a la the opening montage of the Oscars.  Check it out below or head over to MTV.

"In sympathy with striking writers, Vanity Fair on Tuesday canceled its annual multi million-dollar must-attend party. There are other parties, but this is the one Oscar-related trapping that has come to rival the main event for a cast of above-the-title stars, assorted billionaires and several hundred of their closest friends," says the New York Times.

Well if you did, AMC theaters is giving you the chance to see all the Best Picture nominees all in one day. That's right, all in one extra long, epic, mind-blowing (I think that's enough adjectives) cinematic experience. OK, so some may argue that and say it's just a day of pretentious film goers watching a bunch of pretentious films, but hey, to each their own right? The downside is that AMC theaters are not completely ubiquitous (e.g. there's not one near me!!!) and it's a one time only, one day only offer. The big day is the day prior to the Academy Awards (February 23rd for those of you whose lives don't revolve around planning your Oscar party) and it will start at 11AM and end at around 11PM or so- this is 12 hours of solid movies people, not for the faint of heart. The cost of admission is $30 and that not only gets you in, but also gets you a large popcorn and soda and free refills all day long - I think I may have just had an orgasm. So, if you missed the nominees for Best Picture and you've got some time to kill, find your nearest AMC theater on February 23rd.  Maybe I'll see you there.
